What drew you towards psychology, communication, and coaching?
What first made you curious about how people think, feel, and behave?
I'm fascinated by how our minds work, and I've been interested in
understanding people since as far as I can remember. Why they do and say the things they do.
Once I moved to Spain and had to communicate in another language, my interest in communication, deepened as the importance of getting my message across well was a matter of survival.
Then, When I became a Manager, I could see how my communication was fundamental to the success and well-being of my team, and I also became highly aware of ineffective communication. Working in the public sector and politics in Italy also drew my attention to this. .
Psychology and communication are now linked in my mind, because good communication needs self-awareness, emotional intelligence and care.
My Master's degree is in Political Marketing and Communication, but to bring best practices to it rather than learn how to persuade.
I've always been pulled in a few different directions, but really what drew me towards Coaching was because I saw it as an effective way to help leave a positive impact on the world around me. More so, than through political engagement.
Why did you choose coaching rather than psychology or therapy?
What does coaching allow you to do that other paths do not?
Good question! Do you want the long answer or the short answer? To keep it as concise as possible, it's because at the end of the day I like to support people move forward, past their issues and I feel therapy tends to focus more on the past and causes in order to heal the present. So in a nutshell, coaching is more future oriented. Coaching also helps people develop the tools and skills necessary to overcome new challenges independently.
I do still adore psychology, but I think I'd prefer to be a researcher in the field. I also have a keen interest in Political Psychology.
What experiences shaped your approach to working with people?
What has most influenced the way you listen, question, and guide clients?
The thing that influences my approach the most is my genuine curiosity and desire to understand fully, so I can best assist my clients overcome obstacles and live a better life.
