Q: What is the difference between coaching and counseling or therapy?
A: Counseling and therapy focus on understanding the past. A psychologist or therapist helps you explore where difficulties come from, how past experiences shaped you, and how those patterns still affect you today. This work is essential for dealing with trauma, mental health conditions, or deep emotional distress.
Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on the present and future. A coach works with where you are now and what you want to change, build, or move towards. The emphasis is on awareness, decision-making, and practical tools you can apply in everyday life to overcome blocks and move forward.
Life constantly presents new challenges. While the past influences us, new situations arise all the time. Coaching equips you with tools to use independently when new issues appear, rather than relying on ongoing talk-based support. Coaches do not diagnose, treat mental health conditions, or give advice. They guide the process through structured questions, reflection, and accountability, helping you find your own answers and make informed choices.
This is why I chose coaching over therapy. My goal is to help people develop the skills, clarity, and self-awareness they need to navigate life with more confidence and autonomy.
A: Can you also do face-to-face coaching? If so, where?
Yes, I do offer face-to-face coaching sessions, primarily in Rome, Italy, where I’m based. For clients local to Rome, this option provides a more personal and interactive coaching experience.
However, to accommodate busy schedules and international clients, I also provide flexible online coaching sessions worldwide.
Whether face-to-face or online, my coaching focuses on effective communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership development.
