Mentoring is experience-led guidance. In mentoring, I draw on my professional background in communication, emotional intelligence, leadership, and political and organisational contexts. I share perspective, patterns, and lessons learned to help you navigate specific situations more effectively. Mentoring is useful when you want: • Direction based on real-world experience • A sounding board that includes informed opinions • Help avoiding common mistakes • Strategic thinking around career, communication, or leadership choices Mentoring is more directive. I may suggest options, highlight risks, or share what I have seen work and fail in similar situations. You stay in control of decisions, but you are not starting from a blank page. In coaching, the focus is not on my experience but on your thinking, awareness, and behaviour. I use structured questioning and reflective tools to help you clarify goals, challenge assumptions, and develop your own solutions. Coaching is useful when you want: • Greater self-awareness • Sustainable behaviour change • Clear goals that align with your values • Skills you can apply independently over time Coaching is non-directive. I do not tell you what to do or give advice. The value lies in how you think, not in what I think. Choose mentoring if you want perspective, guidance, and informed challenge based on experience. Choose coaching if you want to strengthen how you think, decide, and communicate, long after the sessions end. Some clients move between both. The intention and structure are always clear from the start.
